Bad news for the new Tesco C/C

Tesco rebrands their C/C, bonus card and clubcard c/c.

The clubcard c/c only pay 5 point for every 4pounds spent in Tesco/Tesco.com, or 1 point for every 4pounds elsewhere.

Such a poor deal.

I am wondering whether the new clubcard point arrangement also apply for the existing card?

    I do hope not!
  • Yes, I noticed that too. Also, the new application forms appear to be Mastercard-only (ie: no option for Visa), whereas the previous ones said something like "You will receive our preferred Mastercard by default, if you'd specifically like a Visa card then please tick here [ ]"

We got a new card late last year when chip and pin came in, they had changed us to a mastercard Platinum..........

I pay my balance off in full each month, today I checked on the site to find that my payment, sent on 30th March had not been recieved, when I phoned I was told that there had been a hold up of some sort on payments made on 30th and they were looking into it, why do I not believe them when they say that there will be no late penalty charges applied to the account?????

Hope not as I recently got mine so we can convert the points we will get for buying our holiday on it later in the year to BA miles which we collect.

Oh, I thought that was quite a good offer?
I applied for the clubcard one.

    What was the existing offer?

Do you get the credit card points as well as your standard clubcard points?

The new offer is 5 clubcard points for every £4 spent (4 of those you would get with your clubcard however you pay).

The old offer was 3 clubcard points for every £2 spent (2 of those you would have got with your clubcard however you paid). This is equivalent to 6 clubcard points for every £4 spent (4 of those you would get with your clubcard however you pay).

So the offer is only half as good as it used to be!

So you get 5 points for £4 on the new card. 6 points for £4 on the old.

Can't see how it's only half as good?

So if you pay on a tesco clubcard credit card, you can't use your clubcard as well?

Because you would get 4 of those points with your standard clubcard. So you are only getting 1 point per £4 where as you used to get 2 points.

Correct, your credit card is linked to your clubcard account and you can earn points on either the credit card or the clubcard but not both at the same time.

what if you have a second clubcard account and you handed over that clubcard first, then your Tesco CC to pay, for a £4 spend would you get 4 points onto the normal clubcard(not linked to the CC) then would you get 6 points or 2 points (i.e. not receive the 4 clubcard points) on the Tesco CC clubcard?
