OS Daily - Sunday 28th June

Options
Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sunday 28th June. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome, so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have screens, or slow internet connections, so please DON'T post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning. Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Morning OS lovelies! hi.gif

Hi Yorkshirechick - good to see you posting!
taplady - you will be busy! Hope you find some time to yourself too hon
PenPin - hope you're feeling a bit better today
tired mum - your daughter looks beautiful hon.
Happy belated Brthday to Halight's twins
freebie - sorry to hear about your health scare and nice to see you back.

I ate my very first home grown (by me!) strawberry yesterday! It was still warm from the hot sun and it tasted sweet and a bit tart and absolutely delicious! I have lots more coming and the ones I planted new this year have several flowers on so hoping for a good crop from them too.

It was another hot hot sunny day here yesterday - 9th day in a row with no rain and sunshine most of the day! Too soon to judge for today though the wind is cold. At least all the washing is drying in double quick time, and it all smells so nice.

I think I will cook tortilla for dinner unless the OH wants another BBQ, in which case he has to go and buy some meat! I just want something relatively quick so that I can be in the garden til late as todays plans are to spend as long as possible out there once my OH is up and around. I have pepper plants to move into their final tubs and my trailing tomatoes need to be put in their containers now they are big enough and flowering. And I must check the cabbages for butterfly eggs!

I need to do a Tescos order and sort out my house insurance too, so if the weather isn't kind, those are my indoor jobs!

I hope you all have a peaceful and loving Sunday. Warm gentle hugs.giffor anyone who wants or needs one today.

Morning all. MSD - how's your tooth?

Julietiff - I thought I had got up early at 3.30! I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep, and I didn't go to bed until gone 12 o'clock. I shall definitely be up for an afternoon snooze!

I've done some of my online work already this morning, and am just about to put the BM on. Whether I'll be in the mood for the ironing later is another matter.

The forecast is for really good weather again today, so it will be salad again for dinner. I can use lettuce from the garden, but I have to wait a bit longer for the tomatoes. I only put them in four weeks ago, and I spotted the first three yesterday.

Another thing we found yesterday was a luminous caterpillar. We've never seen one here before; it looks like a normal caterpillar but, at the end of its underbelly, it has two bars of green light. We caught it in a glass and took photos, then let it go outside. A couple of hours later, it was still there, and still glowing. DH suggested collecting loads, and using them as garden lights! Having seen just one in our three months here, I don't think that idea will work, somehow.

I can't believe we've been here three months already. I'm still missing the family a lot, but Skype has made a real difference - I'm so grateful for it. It means I can see everyone, as well as talk to them. DIL2 shows me her rapidly expanding belly, so we can monitor her progress. She is due in seven weeks; we'll be coming back for a couple of weeks then - I can't wait.

Well, I'm going to have a shower, then another cuppa.

Hope you all have a great day.

Good morning fellow early birds :D

I was wide awake a 5am so decided to get up as it's too hot to be in bed under the duvet. DH is one who wraps himself up regardless of the weather so it's like slepping next to a furnace  I've pegged a load of washing out that had done overnight and another load is in now. We're forecast some rain later so I'm hoping to get it dry beforehand.

Dinner today is pasta bake & salad as it's too warm to have the oven on for a roast. I've got some cooking apples to use up so I'll stew them down and serve with ice cream or yoghurt instead of a pie/crumble.

Usual Sunday jobs to do - ironing, sewing repairs, sorting out homework/p.e. kits etc. I also want to pick some lettuce to go with the salad and sew a few more to keep us in fresh lettuce.

I wasn't on yesterday at all as I had a horrible migraine so I'll go and catch up with the thread now.

Edited to add: Haribo What a week you've had! I did laugh at the mental image of you & DH with the boat though ;)

TiredMum Lovely pics of DD's prom she looks beautiful.

Halight Happy belated Birthday to the twins. Hope tha party went well :T

((hugs)) to anyone who needs them xx

    Morning.

Have not been on in a while. Basically apathy.

All is well here, sunny every day, no rain for weeks. Veggies are growing well, bees making honey etc.
Son in America for the summer, Daughter working at Eden for the summer, school almost done.
No job for the OH despite 100's applications. Quite gutted for her really.

Went to Mazey day in Penzance yesterday which was good fun. The train home was a joke though. Good old First group. 1 carriage train to take 1000 people home from the festivities. There was absolute mayhem, lies, fights, delays etc.... Train left almost empty 45 minutes late after another train was promised for more local stops. Complete lack of planning for an event.

Might go boating today after church.... Cheers

I was wondering where you were N9eav it's nice to 'see' you again. Sorry that your OH hasn't found anything yet it's so hard. Why am I not surprised at the trains?!? Makes me so mad too. Enjoy the boat.

    Morning everyone.
Chicken already in the oven for tea tonight. Will pick it to pieces later.
Not sure what the weather is going to do today. It's cloudy but doesn't feel cold in the house at the moment. Had loads of thunder yesterday but nothing else. I really need a day of decent rain, water butt is empty and it's costing a fortune to keep using water from the tap.
Not sure what our plans are today. Have a mountain of ironing so will have to have a crack at that at some point today.
Veggies are still doing nicely. Flowers haven't opened yet on my courgette plant - am getting impatient for them to start now!!!
have a lovely Sunday OS or not.

Very warm and muggy again today. Will be pottering around the house again mainly ironing. Think will take the dogs down the beach this evening.

Probably barbeque for dinner, will check with OH firstly. Need to start digging some potatoes - they are taking over everything. So will incorporate lots of new pots in the meal planner this week.

    Have a lovely Sunday
