if it was me i would go elsewhere get new insurance and see what happens with old company regarding policy docs/or just deny you recieved them because they havnt taken money from your account

Yeah I'm thinking of going for insurance somewhere else - but need to wait til Monday to see what the rep has to say, I will be telling her I don't have a renewed policy and this is the truth, I received no Documents whatsoever.

if you are going to shout at people at least check your spelling

Lectured by on my spelling by someone who makes the same mistake...

You were Insured and would have been covered, you owe the money, your best bet would be to ask to be allowed to pay the outstanding over instalements.

If you want to complain about your Insurer / have someone official confirm what I have told you is correct, you can contact the Financial Services Authority, here are their contact details http://www.fsa.gov.uk/Pages/Doing/Contact/index.shtml

Not sure whats going on here as its got a bit messy - all need to calm down and take a deep breath, I'm just asking a question I'm not saying I don't believe you, I'm annoyed at the insurance company not anyone here, I was worried about the suggestion about paying back over a couple of months as I just couldn't do it. The insurance company are coming back to me - so It'll all come out in the wash. Ive been to the FSA about my endownment mortgage in the past and to be honest that was a waste of time.
But if I get no joy I will contact head office.

If this was a renewed policy then is it correct to assume that last years premium was collected correctly? Was that by DD as well?

If yes, why did this years premium installments direct debits fail to be collected? Lack of funds in account or a fault by the insurer?

If the insurer is at fault, i.e. they failed to request the payments, I would have thought you had stronger grounds for requesting a more favourable repayment plan.

last years premium was DD - its the insurers fault for not collecting the money, there is and was always funds in my bank, they would have been on my case if they weren't knowingly not getting their money. I will be looking elsewhere for insurance from August, unless of course they offer me a decent deal.
