I couldn't put my hands on a copy of the policy - when you renew like this the insurance companys don't always send a new policy.

Do I now have the right to offer them £10 a month until this is paid off, I don't want a court case, they are ringing me back on Monday night.

if it was me i would go elsewhere get new insurance and see what happens with old company regarding policy docs/or just deny you recieved them because they havnt taken money from your account

In the past I have stayed with the same company cos I don't have time to shop around, usually the insurance companies just renew if you ignore their letters for not renewing. I'm going to have to be more careful now, I could have easily needed to claim and find when it comes to the crunch I wasn't insured. I had recently remortgaged (2006) so had taken out insurance at that time to cover this and just left it run each year..........!

If the OP is right they may take the full amount - plus I have 2 months to run on the "would be" policy so they might even take the £27 payments eitherway, the DD hasn't been stopped as I have been thinking they have been taking the money each month.
