Cheapest Way To Move?????

So the situation is that you've got virtually no cash, less than £300, no access to credit and you want to move halfway across the country?.
Well yes to put it bluntly i have just paid £1400 deposit on a house sorry i dont know how many single parents with 2 children you know that have thousands and thousands of pounds worth of savings laying about.
Sometimes due to certain circumstances you just have to do things and think about them later on, im not going to go into why im having to move but im having to do so for myself and my childrens safety, I dont have a lot of choice in the matter.0 -
So car hire places don't accept cash transactions? I never knew that, thanks.
Yes they do accept cash transactions with a refundable deposit when the vehicle is returned of around £250 to £300 which is where my problem is at the moment.
There are companies out there that dont ask for a deposit is you are paying in cash its just a case of trying to find one, and whilst i cant do this on a Saturday night i thought i would ask on here to see if anybody could think of an alternative. :rolleyes:0 -
I'm not sure if you'd qualify, but have you thougght of a crisis loanI refuse to enter a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent:rolleyes:0

If you are in essex now could you ask around if there are any charitable organisations who could help. What about Gingerbread, or the local church. Or you could put an advert in the local paper up north and see if any lorry drivers may be able to help, a sort of SOS.
You could try to get a crisis loan as someone has suggested. Im sure there is a scheme whereby you can take out a loan and pay a small amount back each week without heavy interest. My mind has gone blank on who runs them.It is for people on low incomes and is a community based lending scheme. We have one in our town.
Come on people of Essex surely someone can help this lady in distress
Another thought - Im sure if you approached your local vicar at the church he would rally the troops and try to help you get basic furniture etc. You will be surprised at the help out there. I know if you are not religious this may seem difficult but im sure that when people realise the predicament you are in they will help. Social services may also be a good source on local schemes etc. Dont be to proud to ask for help. You have been very brave to uproot yourself and your children and your safety is paramount. There are good people and organisations out there that can help you
Good luck for the future0 -
Have you thought about asking the bank for an overdraft facility for a few weeks? Or if you already have a facility asking them to up it for the few weeks?0

I've never been in debt and I pay for things outright, but I honestly can't imagine how i'd live without my debit card. No internet shopping, always having to carry cash and not being able to buy things if the banks are closed...0
