Hi couponwoman I went to the gfs on the spur of the moment it cost £22 on the day but I felt it was well worth it. I was not really prepared for all the money off coupons I got then I understood why so many people were pulling small cases on wheels and little trucks. Essential to have comfortable shoes and try everything. The Saga stand asked me to enter their competition which I did and while I filled in the form the very nice lady picked up a goody bag and gave it to me which had a lovely stainless steel thermos in it and the bag was put to good use for mocs.

    Hi angiebee

it sounds as though you had a really good day. It really must be quite challenging, but exciting too, to rush around grabbing coupons and samples etc.

I want to go if I can in November, but I seem to recall talk of there being a few different rooms and you needed to sign up for a magazine to go into these other rooms. Maybe I have lost the plot and got confused though.

Thanks for the info angie and I hope everyone who goes to the GFS gets truckloads of coupons

    Newbie alert...

Buoyed my my first ever coupon shop in tesco last weekend, I visited a different tesco after work (closer to my work) to buy some booze and tasty bites for tonight!!:D

My coupons were not accepted at the checkout where I was directed to customer service desk. The assistant said she had never heard of such 'national coupon policy' (i showed her) and called manager. He rudely grunted:mad: 'managers discretion' and wouldn't accept any...not even the finish rinse-aid!

I am now deflated and dreading my weekend shop:o. Is this normal in some stores? Is it just hit and miss? What would you all have said??

This has probably happened to all of us. The main Mr T's I used to go to refuse to take any coupons at all, unless you buy the product. Not been back since.

You cannot really argue too much as they can turn round and ban you from the store. That might sound wimpy, but it has happened to a couple of people on this board.

You need to shop around (ha ha) and find one that uses the national policy and go there in future.

    good luck.

Thanks for taking time to reply CW. I guess I was being a bit greedy as the store I visited last week will only accept 50% MOCs and I had enough to pay for all my stuff tonight so thought i'd try a different store. That'll teach me!:o:rolleyes:

I'll not be back there!! I'm still a wee bit p*ssed at the managers attitude. He looked at me as if i'd sprouted a 2nd head!!

this has happened to mostly everyone on this thread at some time or another.
Is there another store you could try?
Each store should follow the national policy but most follow their own hybrid version

:beer:At least its not just me! Thought they could spot me and my coupons coming!! I get a bit nervous about any confrontation. MUST grow thicker skin!!:o

The other store is about 5 miles further away. Would it be worth my while phoning another store before I go?
