M&S 1% travellers cheque SBT

As reported by YB in a number of previous posts, I went to my local M & S and bought 2.5k in STCs but they were in £100 denominations (next time I'll order on line!) I took them into my local A & L branch (a pain since they've been associated with Santander IMO) the cashier said she wasn't allowed to take them but as luck wuld have it her supervisor was a few yards away and said "yes" we do take STCs, the down side of the whole thing was signing 25 x cheques, but a successful transaction none the less:beer:If youcan lie down at night knowing in your heart that you just made someone’s day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day!!0

Am I missing something?

Is this still workable and does your bank allow these sterling tcs to be paid in free of charge?0

Just got my card with a £5.5K limit
I am not near an M&S that has a bureaux de change to get the travellers cheques.
So my questions are...
1) How much can I order online? % wise to CC limit.
2) How much can you order in one of the stores with a bureaux de change?
3) I have accounts in the Halifax/BOS and Nationwide, are these still OK to put the travellers cheques in?
I'm thinking of ordering online as soon as, then either slow stoozing or going to a bureaux de change if passing by to use the rest of the limit up.

2) At least £4,700 (and £9,000 in a day from two bureaux de change in the same city in my experience).
3) No recent experience, but I'd either check with them first or try a small transaction before hitting one of them with the rest.
Is it worth it though? I mean, a basic rate tax payer with a 3% savings account would make just £31 over 9 months (I know it's 10 months but you'll lose a month with start up/pay off delays).0 -

Thanks YB
So, looks like I'll try and go with 2 lots of £2,500 online.
What's the worst that could happen if I order and they are sticky with taking them?0 -

Just a quick question.
Went to order £500 worth of travellers cheques.
What's the significance of the "your date of travel"?
Does this date have an bearing when I go and cash them into the bank?
