Whilst sitting here, Ive just downloaded the free cdburner xp. Brilliant I thought, appeared to burn all my docs in just 4 minutes.
Ive taken out the disk, put it back in and Im getting a message windows is unable to access -
Bed I think ...................nite all.0 -
Could be a bad batch of discs... or a sign of impending doom.

Thats a comfort
May be the discs, I nicked them from youngest sons room. Ill get some new ones.
I usually use CDR or RW but they arent big enough to hold all the documents now. So I put the DVD R in. First of all MS says it has to format it, never had that before. On MS it was taking an eternity to burn so abandoned that. Now, as I said downloaded that program, it whipped through burning in a short time BUT when I put it back in to read, MS says it cant access the disk. Oh I could scream.
Nite all. x0 -
Unless the discs are rewriteable there's no way it should be doing that. Formatting a write-once disc would essentially turn it into a coaster.First of all MS says it has to format it, never had that before.0 -
Well, yes, but if they give no choice ??????????0

Maybe start another thread and ask people if they know any freeware CD/DVD burning software that's compatible with Vista.Well, yes, but if they give no choice ??????????
With any luck you'll get a reply from someone that's actually used it - not just googled it.
:cool:Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake.0 -
Well the one I used seemed very highly rated - previously Id just used windows when it told me it would take 19 days to burn :eek:0

I use Nero 7 Essentials on Vista, and it is fine.
I've used the Vista builtin write capability and it was totally unreliable.
For Word/Works, you could try deinstalling and installing again.
(Note that M$ sometimes don't fix outgoing versions of apps but instead say that the fix is to update to the newer version.)0 -
Im just installing nero 9 free trial download from hippo. But I think its something to do with windows. (Had to abort the nero 9 - it asks for my registration number??)
Is there a way of repairing windows easily without losing any of my docs or data please?0 -
If you have one of these, this might help - though you should probably back up your stuff anyway, just in case.Is there a way of repairing windows easily without losing any of my docs or data please?0
