Ever since I had this puter and VISTA Ive had a prob with copying and pasting onto the word processor. If I want to copy and print something off I now use Open Office. But does anyone know why this happens.
Ill copy, go to MS word processor and try to paste and up comes the message - an error has occurred, MS is trying to find a solution and then (having not found one
) it offers to close down the program.
Any ideas why this happens?

Copying and pasting what exactly?
If it's text, i'd say "that's very strange".....
If your pasting images id say "RTFM", and "use the insert picture menu"
MS word and Excel both take pasted images as being in BMP format, so if you paste an image from say a photograph thats a 4MB .JPG file (6-10 megapixel), your actually pasting an image into word that's somewhere between 20MB and 40MB! Word/Excel just can't deal with that.....“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Nope strider, its normally text - say for instance today, I wanted to copy a confirmation of an order. I copy it, go to MS Word process, click to paste and up comes the little message - happens every time.
For every day I use the word processor, no problems if I type on it and then print. Its just this copy and paste thing.
As I said, I have got Open Office now which I can paste to fine, but its something that niggles me.0 -
Ive just had a google and blow me, its happening to lots of people. One of the top answers is
Use Edit > Paste Special > Unformatted text to paste the item
But this pastes in unformatted text

Have you considered saving a copy of the page from within the browser? You could also try 'printing' it to a PDF or XPS file.0

Thanks tangle, as I say I can use Open office fine but its just not knowing why I cant do it that wrankles. As does the fact that since I got VISTA I dont seem to be able to system restore OR back up to dvds????0

Ok.... Hadn't heard of people having this problem, It could well depend on what your pasting from.
Something I keep having to do (for these forums infact), to lose any formating.
If you paste it into notepad and then copy and paste into word, it "should" work fine

Pain though - cant understand if its a common prob why MS havent sorted it.0

It's because it's considered a "feature", being able to copy and paste formatted text..... But it probably only works between MS applications.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
