Thanks for all your help guys!
Will give VMware server a try over the weekend. If that fails, Cygwin with the gcc, if that fails, bootable linux and if that fails then a windows compiler!
Thanks again for all your advice![FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

BUT, linux is based on the unix kernel.. thus commands evolve from unix and so does the compiler!MercilessKiller wrote:Yes Its bog standard ANSI C that we've been using... so that's where I'm struggling. Does LINUX OS C compilers compile in ANSI C? If not is there a windows ANSI C compiler?
Try cc, gcc et al.
Forgive me for saying, but I think spending a few minutes in Google would probably have revealed the answers to all your compiler compatability questions.0 -
I did google but I just ended up confusing myself and going round in circles..
So i thought why not post on a helpful forum... and indeed people have been helpful.. though i'm not sure why you've decided to be insulting as well as helpful :P[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

BTW, I installed Ubuntu Linux on my wife's new Dell 630m using VMWare couple of week ago with no problem. Just set aside 4-6GB for it and you don't need to repartition your HD too. She needs it for uni's works too.0
