Sorry I missed the bit where you said independent. To be honest I don't know how that works. Whether you are assessed on your own or its the household income.
It is the Maintenance Grant which is income assessed. If you are entitled to the full Maintenance Grant the amount you can borrow in way of the Maintenance loan is reduced slightly.
You will need to apply and complete the relevant forms.
Student Finance plenty of information there.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Even if you are old enough to be independent, you need to declare on your student finance forms if anyone pays anything on your behalf. You may find you need to put down the fact that your mum pays rent/ mortgage/ bills for the house you live in, unless you can demonstrate that you share everything equally or pay a fair market rent.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

I'm not sure that's true; do you have a reference for it?
Student finance isn't based on your outgoings in the way that benefits are.0 -

I am absolutely sure it is not true!
I will eat my words if said link appears but I somehow doubt it.0 -

Honestly, it would make no difference if she lived in a mansion.
They will not count your mother at all.
So, to be clear:- your mother will not count,
- her income will not count,
- her house will not count,
- your income will not count.
Enjoy the course!0 -

Most people move to a different address when they go to university - it won't faze them at all.0 -

Sorry I don't have a reference: I haven't a clue how to access the student finance application online! I've pulled my loans file and I haven't kept a copy of the application form. I think the question was in the additional income section but I am not sure on that ... I suppose it may have changed if you don't know what I am on about??
I had to complete paper forms for both years of my student finance and I definitely had to declare at some point that no-one paid anything on my behalf. I don't know whether that includes rent or bills when you live with your parents, hence I said 'may' in my earlier post. I particularly remember because my parents loaned me a fairly substantial sum in my first semester, and I made them pay the bill directly in a great wodge of cash!!Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
