What you could do is go for the o2 mobile broadband dongle via Quidco which is half price at the moment at £14.67 until 29 June with cashback of £29.67 and you could use the mobile broadband while you wait for the transfer to BT and then sign up for o2.
I haven't used the o2 mobile broadband so can't recommend it as such but worth having a look at the T&Cs going via Quidco.0 -

Good idea, thanks. But how would I cancel the mobile broadband when I don't need it any more? Or is it PAYG?June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Oh just checked and it looks like it works out as a free dongle and £15 of PAYG mobile broadband. Dongle costs £14.67, Cashback is £29.67 but have to top up £15 to get it.
Good plan if it looks like I'm going to be offline a while, may do it anyway though, free dongle and all that.
Thanks Edinburghlass, I really should have spotted that one when I signed up to O2 through Quidco the other day!June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

Its PAYG, the only condition for the cashback is you must top up with £15 within the first 30 days.

Checked the coverage checker on their site and says they don't recommend it for my area. Oh well, guess I'll have to survive without the net for a few days!
HALF PRICE OFFER ENDS TODAY FOR ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED THOUGH!
Still not sure what to do first when MAC comes, call BT and get a line or sign up with O2? Suppose makes sense to get BT line first, will this mean my orange broadband (that I have for next 30 days or until I use MAC) will go away?June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

You need to get the BT line first so I'd call them today and find out what the time scale is with them. The MAC you will need for o2 but you can't sign for o2 until you know your line is definately BT but I'm sure someone else was swapping to BT in this thread from post 223, so have a read through.

MAC just arrived by email at 9.15pm! Only 2 and a half days not 5 so not bad really. But apparently have to wait until 15th for BT to connect landline...
