changed my listing to block zero feedback bidders after I recieved a bid from one

I thought I had already set up my buyer preferences to block buyers with zero feedback but an item I have listed has an opening bid from a new member with zero feedback.
I checked my settings and I mistakenly thought the option to block bids from buyers with -1 meant less than one feedback, but it doesnt.I edited my preferences and also block bidders without a card registered and who have less that 1 feedback. So it is set up as I wish it now.
But the opening bid from the zero bidder is still there,I thought it would be cancelled when I changed my preferences.
The item could end up being a high value sale and I just dont feel secure with the possibility of selling it to someone with no history on ebay.
Any advice on this please.

We all had to start with zero feedback. Why do you want to block them. I have had less problem with zero feedback bidders than with long time members
If its a high value item and you send it tracked snd use correct procedure you should have little problems.0 -
If you want to though you can cancel the individual bid0

I must say, I dont have much feedback and i would be mightly annoyed if someone didnt want my money because of that fact.
Ok I see you are trying to protect yourself, but why lose out on a potential sale through paranoia, anything I have bought get paid for straight away, why think this person is different?
As someone else said we all started of with zero feedback, as both buyers and sellers:heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -
I've found that people new to ebay generally play by the rules better than the oldies. The ones I've had problems with are long time members who pay on the last day of a dispute before a strike is given to them. I've had low feedback peeps cause problems too, but not nearly as many as the 'pros'.0

You can't do that.
If ebay allowed that option, everybody would probably use it and then ebay wouldn't be able to attract any new customer accounts.
We all started with zero feedback once.
I remember the first item I bought on ebay was a high value electronic item and I having won it I certainly expected the seller to supply it at the agreed price which he did without any question.
If you want to detract those with no feedback, you could add a comment to your listing asking that those bidders should contact you beforehand else you might cancel there bid - but that won't stop those who snipe.
If you don't have the comment, you could still cancel the bid ... but imagine how you would have felt if your very first experience on ebay was that a seller cancelled your bid without prior warning. I know I would probably have never gone back there again.
As a seller you need potential buyers, the more the better if you wish to secure a good price. Please don't put newcommers off by cancelling their bids without warning."Now to trolling as a concept. .... As Premier says, you can block zero feedback users, you can however block low feedback users who do not have a credit card on file with ebay, which is likely to reduce the number of 'bad' buyers who have created a new account and have little or no intention of paying.
You may also weed out some 'good' buyers who simply didn't want to give ebay their credit card details too, but that's your choice.0 -
Well I took off the zero feedback block as a result of your comments but I did add paypal account required just me make me feel a bit more secure.I have left on the need for a cc to be registered also."Reaching out to touch the stars dont forget the flowers at your feet".0

Yes there is.You have never noticed the option then.
On the listing if you select add or remove options for buyer requirements it is one of things you can tick in the pop up box.You have to select either to restrict the number of purchases with a timeframe or that bidders must have a cc registered and then it gives you this additional option too,you can choose to block bidders with feedback up to 5.
Here, this is copied and pasted from ebay.
Block buyers who:
Don't have a PayPal account
PayPal account holders have up to an 80% lower Unpaid Item rate.

Have 4567 breach of policy report(s) within 16 month(s)
Have a feedback score equal to or lower than -1-2-3
Have bid on or bought my items within the last 10 days and met my limit of 12345678910255075100
Only apply this block to buyers who have a feedback score equal to or lower than 543210
Control the number of items a single buyer can purchase.
Do not have a credit card on file
Only apply this block to buyers who have a feedback score equal to or lower than 543210

That isn't the same as blocking zero feedback users though, which is not possible. It has always been possible to block users with low feedback and no card although that can limit your sales a bit too much for many people.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
