Best place to get sim-free unlocked phones

I know that usually most CPW phones are unlocked

and their is a big selection on play.com

what other sites are good? (no contract, sim-free)

I'm after an unlocked SE C903 which is released on the 29 June.

They have it on pre-order for £279 at Play and price TBA at Expansys.

Have been told to get it on PAYG from CPW as CPW will subsidise the phone cost and it'll be unlocked so I can then use my existing SIM.

Not sure how accurate that info is though!!

In the vast majority of cases phones bought from CPW are unlocked. Just bear in mind that in the extremely unlikely event that the one you get is, you won't be able to return it because of this.

can you ask them to confirm it is unlocked before you buy or don't they tell you/know?

the question in my mind is as most contracts offer low minutes which is better:
free phone + contract
buy a sim-free phone + get payg or sim-free sim

You can try play.com

But i ordered the same phone from carphone on pay as you go on o2 and it came unlocked and unbranded. Saved me £40 compared to buying it from play.com

If the offer is available in store, most of the guys will let you know or allow you to try another SIM before you buy.

From previous experience of dealing with CPW via phone or internet, I have usually found their level of actual product knowledge to be very lacking.
