NSandI Sort Code

I'm thinking of helping my wife move her NSandI ISA out to the Lloyds fix rate, 1 year ISA tomorrow and can't establish what the NSandI sort code is...I have seen various different ones and been advised the same way??

Anyone used this recently?

Also, has anyone experience of transferring in to Lloyds?

TIA

I don't see why NS&I should have a sort code. A sort code is what a bank publishes, e.g. to allow money to be transferred in usually to a current account.
The problem is that some banks have a space for a sort code on their ISA form but in principle you should just be able to quote the reference number of the ISA.

How do you propose that NS&I customers credit their accounts if they don't have a sort code and account number to remit to?

From their own website, the sort code is 10-21-65 (a Bank of England sort code) with account number 22578145. You then quote your individual cash ISA number as the reference. These details are quoted for both their "Direct ISA" and Cash ISA products.

This is not relevant to the OP's question, which was regarding an ISA transfer. AFAIK NS&I accounts do not, themselves, have sort codes. The fact that you can fund them by sending funds to a common clearing account is beside the point.

Also, some savings providers have only allowed account funding by Direct Debit.

My reply was to the specific statement of "I don't see why NS&I should have a sort code. A sort code is what a bank publishes, e.g. to allow money to be transferred in usually to a current account."

I never said that NS&I assigned a sort code and account number to accounts individually, I was replying to the assertion that NS&I as a whole would not have a sort code.

Why you are concerned with this being related to the OP's question is beyond me, these are forums - places for debate and discussion.

A little bit of Googling also reveals that others have quoted the details I posted from the NS&I website when transferring ISAs.

The Lloyds ISA set up and transfer were easy at a local branch on Saturday (except for having to ring NS&I for my wifes Nat Ins number!) FYI Lloyds used 00-00-00 for the sort code on the ISA transfer form from NS&I although Newcastle quoted a real six figure ref for my transfer out??

I recently followed the process using the sort code, account no. & reference as set out in Barclay's reply to transfer my NS&I Direct ISA to the Halifax. Worked fine & took about 2 weeks to complete.
