Nokia E71 or Blackberry Bold?

As title really, due upgrade in a week or so, looking at one of the above

Anyone have any experience of these 2? any common faults?

Thanks in advance

  • I have been nokia fan for alll the time but their software is always buggy and hardware like GPS never works (Talking about N95)

Havent tried E71 myself but people say it's a good one.

I've been using Blackberry Curve and I am very happy with the quality of it. Bold is of course better as it's 3G and faster speed so I'd say go with BB Bold :)

You will be hard pressed to find a bad review of an E71.

I've had the E61(the early version of the E71) for 3 years now and I love it. I tried the Sony Eric. experia X1 as a replacement but couldn't see the screen in bright sunshine whereas the E61 is much better. I also found touch screens fiddley. I don't know anything about Blackberry's however.

    Both are solid phones.

Bold is better for internet and email imho,

E71 is a very, very solid phone.

    I'd say E71 over the E75, I have both.
  • E71 is a good phone.
  • I got the E71 and ma bro got the bold. The E71's smaller, battery lasts longer by a lot. Internet and email is supposedly better on the bold but cant really fault it on the E71. The bold does have a higher resolution screen which some may see as a bit of overkill on such a screen of that size. The bolds screen is slightly larger than the E71. Both can have apps. E71 comes with full quickoffice built in with a free upgrade to the newest version over the 3g/wifi. Both handsets are quite snappy and responsive. The E71 seems to be generally cheaper/ on lower price plans (at least on three). E71 has 2.5mm audio jack whereas bold has 3.5mm audio jack.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Nokia E72 (successor to the E71) will be released late in the 3rd Quarter of the year. It has a better camera, an optical d-pad, 3.5mm audio jack (from the 2.5mm that RagingDragon mentioned) etc.

Here is a blurb on Nokia's blog about it:

I have a Bold and generally very happy with it - nice solid build and nice keyboard.
Do be aware though that the camera is pretty rubbish.
