I'm beginning to wish I'd picked a more anonymous username just in case now, lol.
(Not that I'm a particularly private person or anything as you can gather from my TMI posts on the mooncup thread etc!)
Owing to financial constraints, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off until further notice. :(

It's not a new rule, a well respected Benefits regular got PPRed as a result of having an AE (IMO for good reason, but I don't make the rules! ;) ).

Edit: I meant they had a good reason to have an AE, not to be banned! :o

I emailed the abuse team a good while ago (I'd need to search for the posts to know when) about a poster on the student board who clearly had an AE. I asked if it was allowed as the poster was just an idiot basically and not causing trouble as such. An 'undersector' type iykwim, but it wasn't him.

They said there was no rule against it and, because he was not causing trouble, they said they'd monitor it, and asked if I would keep an eye out too, and report back if he started causing issues.

So, it wasn't against the rules then...

I'll see if I can find the poster to work out when I queried it.

ETA: found him! It was early 2008 and they definitely told me there was no problem having an AE so long as it wasn't used maliciously.

Think it's a very good idea ... suggested it myself in Sept 08 but it came to nought. Might save so much question asking & guesswork. So yeah it's the way ahead.

Only thing I'm having problems with, Bozo, is your ... um, how to describe ... "enthusiasm". I think going out of your way to research someones posting history to find flaws, only to tear them to shreds on this board, isn't necessarily the way to go. It's making me feel a bit uncomfortable.

It smacks of someone having far too much time on their hands and only on this forum to pull people to bits.It must be nice watching the rent money role in whilst sat on your high horse. It makes me feel uncomfortable too.

    Missed this before.

Firstly it aint "going out of my way". Quite often looking back on the last few pages of posts from a OP can help shed light on their problem.

    I am merely challenging them.

Remember the OP who had was ranting about how to get a crisis loan as she had no money and could not feed her children? 2 weeks prior she paid £400+ on slabs for the garden.

    Thats reasonable to challenge.

If they can't take a challenge from Some Bozo on the internet, how are they going to handle a challenge from the DSS or when a neighbour reports them?

Unfortunately, when you've been here longer you'll realise that not everybody is as they seem.

People ask complicated questions for the fun of it and ask questions in different ways to enable them to scam the system. I think that looking back over previous posts can save people a lot of time and help to sort out who's a troll.

I also think it's not terribly clever to post things like this about people who make as valuable a contribution as Bozo does.

    My time is my time.

I would like to think quite a lot of people value my advice, so its not having "too much time".

Surely your focus should be on people on benefits who are trying to twist the system, with our help, when the truth is something so different.

    Early 2008 isn't recent! ;)

Would that be a certain someone that wanted a ridiculously sized laptop by any chance? :p

The Benefits regular got PPRed in April 2008, I'll PM you after my dinner to tell you more!

We're not here to challenge anyone. I don't think challenging is part of our remit. Because from challenges comes judgmentalism and that's what the regulars have been criticised for.

We're only here to point Mrs Paving Stones in the direction of the Crisis Loans office, not to question the way she runs her finances.

I think your way of doing things is too ... in your face.

    Well, it's relatively recent! :p

It was a thread I glimpsed on the feedback board the other day that made me think it was a recent thing. I didn't read it though, so perhaps it wasn't what I thought it was. I ought to check before typing really... :D

    Lol, no, it wasn't her.

Ooh please do fill me in as I have no idea who you are talking about and I love a bit of gossip!
