Dragging up a post from 2004 is hardly progress.

No doubt if the same question was posed today, it would have attracted completely different responses.

Being Human in no way at all means you have to resort to such abusive language.
Can't you simply disappear off to some social networking site with the rest of the kids in your class (in Scunthorpe probably).

Whether the advice you gave was accurate or not, it is pointless if you are unable to construct a coherent paragraph, instead, replying on a block of unreadable text to get your message across.

Bax, your a liar as well. In your first post you advised the OP to keep using an external monitor until he had time to buy a new laptop. You were talking directly to the OP as if his problem was current so you obviously did not realise the thread was 6 years old. You're just trying to cover up your mistake. Even if you had realised, it is still not ok to bump up threads from 6 years ago - if everyone did that the forum would be in chaos.

Someone by PM has also tipped me off (and I have also verified it myself by inspecting the HTML source) that in your post above is hidden this: "how about you pendulum, I suggest you take a good look at yourself too" which is why my name appears in blue in your above post (post #35), so obviously that post is being reported too and I expect you to be banned for that. Really immature.

Makes me wonder how you came across that 6 year old thread in the first place. Sounds like you may have read something in a book that day about monitor inverters then searched the internet to find someone suffering that problem, just so you could "share your infinite knowledge and impress everyone with your technical skills", or actually just embarrass yourself as it worked out

My LCD on my Laptop IBM Thinkpad 600X has just suddenly gone dark.

I don't think I pressed anything but who knows?

I have tried the following so far :

1 Plugged it into another external monitor and it works OK .

2 Turned it off & back on again (don't know why but the techies at work always tell you to do that when you have a problem, I think it gives them a few minutes to work out what the problem is myself!!)

When it came back on it momentarily came back bright but lapsed into darkness in Windows (XP Pro by the way)

I suppose it could be the backlight ?

My favorite IT guru lives 150 miles away (and he is in Tesco at the moment) so I thought I would ask if anyone out there has any ideas please?
:( :-/ :'(

LOL I bought a new laptop in 2004 and replaced it in 2007 and again last year but I still have the dodgy IBM in the loft just in case.

Maybe it's time to do some clearing out of old threads and old laptops???

The problem isn't old threads which can be found via searches and be very useful - it's the fact that idiots reopen them leading to others reading through a load of old tripe not realising that the original problem was resolved ages ago. As will doubtless happen again now.
