Just back from one of the vidafone store in bristol. The sales person mention all new contract are 18 month. Can any one told me is it true or not?

If it is more people will be relcuant to sign mobile contract and move to their pay as you go (15p can talk up to 60 mins with stop the clock) :j

Most of vodafones best "deals" (ie half price) have traditionally been on 18 month contracts, but they still sell 12 month ones.

I recently upgraded, I've always had 12 month contracts, the man said 18 months, I agreed as I thought I would probably be able to before. Then they sent my conformation letter thanking me for extending my contract for another 12 months.

18 month contracts are a big con and earn salesmen extra comission. That is why you were lied to.

A bit of a sweeping generalisation. If you are not that worried about upgrading your phone after 12 months, some 18 month contracts can be more attractive as you can get more inclusive minutes and texts than on the 12 month equivalent.

and salesmen for certain big name retailers DO NOT get paid more for selling you an 18mth contract. Try and goto an independant store first before going to a network store,

eg link, cpw, phones4u as you can compare deals then!

    Depends on the network/company/tariff really.

Sorry but I've looked into this quite a lot, and I've yet to find an 18 month tariff that has an equivilent 12 month tariff, that offers a better deal for customers who are on the ball.
