Can you take children in First Class

I think if you pay they accept children in first class but know that my neighbours, who were BA employees and entitled to first class upgrades, could only travel in business until the children were over 120

I sat next to the children from hell on a flight to Washington DC once. The mother and her two children - about 2 and 4 - were on the same row as me. She had no control over her children and didn't seem to care. They ran riot, throwing things, climbing over me, taking things out of my seat pocket etc. I asked her to stop them and she ignored me. When I called the chief steward she threatend the woman that her children would be phsyically restrained if she did not control them plus she would be arrested when we got into the USA. The rest of the flight was perfect peace but the woman kept throwing awful looks at me (like I cared!)
What was really funny is that two months later on the same flight, the same woman and her children sat down on the very same row as me again. She recognised me and her children were little angels for the whole flight. She didn't say a word to me though.
I love flying with children when they are well behaved, but really would prefer not to be near babies. I don't think too much of parents who fly with children under two years old. It isn't fair on the child to subject them to a flight longer than a couple of hours and it certainly isn't fair on the other passengers.

...and they just don't like the strange noises and changes in pressure, wait until they are older than 2 years.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I totally agree. I have been in business class a few times and there are always screaming kids.chalky_bertie wrote:If I had paid that much money for First class on BA I would like there to be no children in the cabin - a bit of piece and quiet, thanks.travelover0 -
I don't think babies are necessarily a problem in business or first although toddlers and up can be. When my children were babies they would nurse the entire time of the flight (more or less) which solved the pressure problems. I gave up flying long flights with them when they were toddlers and only started again when they were old enough (around 4) to be entertained in their seat, and then we moved back into economy. What I'm saying is, don't necessarily assume when you see a baby on the flight that it's going to be a problem. Assuming the parent is prepared to work hard for the entire flight (and it can be hard) any child can be a good traveller.

It is blindingly clear from your post that you are a good parent who does all the right things with your baby/child during the flight. Unfortunately for ever one like you my experience shows that there are at least 10 that don't care/know what to do.jenniferpa wrote:Assuming the parent is prepared to work hard for the entire flight (and it can be hard) any child can be a good traveller.

I don't believe children should be accepted in First either - everyone else has paid a considerable amount of money for a little quiet and privacy. I tried to argue the same point on a thread about trains recently but was totally shot down by everyone0

Then I would advise you to stay at home. There is no way in hell my children are going in economy.chalky_bertie wrote:If I had paid that much money for First class on BA I would like there to be no children in the cabin - a bit of piece and quiet, thanks.Barclaycard 3800

I would advise you that not everyone likes kids running around the plane screeming, shouting, throwing up and all the other things that kids do which get on my nerves. I would pay good money to sit up there so would like a bit of quiet.
First class should be adults only.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -
Unfortunately, yes. I think there should be a children's section in economy - say, at the back of the plane since children are usually pre-boarded anyway; that way, the rest of us can get some much needed peace and quiet. That said, teenagers are probably o.k and have enough social graces to sit down and shut up for the flight - those that aren't are probably flying with Ryanair, so you shouldn't have to worry about encountering them at the front end.'We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.
