Can anyone help me out, my HP (DV6000) laptop has a switch on the front for turning the wireless adaptor on, however, I cant actually turn it on no matter where I put the switch, can anyone help? I have tried unplugging the cable from the desktop and plugging into the laptop and I can then connect to the internet with no problems.

Hi Jessie, is your wireless enabled on your operating system and have you told your operating system to setup a wireless network?0 -
In network connections there is only one symbol when there used to be two, the one that I used to use for internet has dissapeared and the other I can not enable and then get the error message " a network cable is unplugged".0

If you go in to control panel, system, devices is the wireless card listed in there or doing you have anything with a question mark against it?0

in the devices, under network adapters there is something called 'NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller' which im assuming is the wireless card... this is working fine and there are no question marks anywhere in devices.0

shouldn't that be control panel > system > hardware tab > device manager?
edit - the nforce controller is for the wired lan port on the laptop0 -
right, well the only other likely looking thing in device manager is called 'NVIDIA network bus enumerator' which is also working properly, if neither of these is the wireless card then it is not in devices at all, any suggestions?0
