Ive been scammed - anything I can do?

  • Very very stupidly I read an ad in Gumtree for a phone that was for sale. Although I NEVER do this, the person seemed so genuine that I decided to take them at their word and put the money straight into their bank account. A total of £180. Of course I haven't heard a word since!

I tried to recall the money but couldnt. Police don't even want to take a fraud report. Advised me to call the bank but they weren't interested either...

I know it was a completely mad thing to do but just wondering if there is anything I can do??! I have bank account details and an address although there is no knowing if its their address I guess.

    I can't believe i've been such an idiot!

Surprised that the Police are not interested. Perhaps the BiB, being the lazy sh i ts they are only care about the £80 fixed penalties they issue.

However Dave101t is right with his advice.
"There's no such thing as Macra. Macra do not exist."
"I could play all day in my Green Cathedral".
"The Centuries that divide me shall be undone."
"A dream? Really, Doctor. You'll be consulting the entrails of a sheep next. "
  • Do you have the person's postal address and/or email address?

If you have their postal address, then I would:

    - go round to their house can confront themn
    - if that doesn't appeal to you, then sign up their name and address to lot of questionable catalogues to be sent to that address
    - do the same for their email address

Got scammed on ebay for exactly the same amount for a mobile over 18 months ago, the police did investigate, as did I and the others who were scammed for various items, the joke is in our case the person existed, we even traced their parents, previous addresses still to no avail, the police did tell us they had issued warrants for the arrest of the person concerned LOUISE SISSODIA so if by coincidence it was the same person or if anybody knows her location let us know maybee Ill get my £180 back at £1 a month!

This person is a tenant in my property. Uses the name Louise Sisodia or Louise Gabrys. No surprise that they have stopped paying rent. Contact me if you like.
