3V Sim - Help!

I sold a Siemens CL75 to someone from the States a few weeks ago, she has just got back to me and has said that she even though she has unlocked the phone it still says No Service.
She took the phone to her service provider and they told her she needs a 3V Sim. Can someone tell me what a 3V Sim is, is it just another word for 3G?? Also, she has asked where can she get this from, what should I tell her??
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

3 volt sim?0

I guess they mean a 3Volt sim card.
Sim cards used to be rated at 5volts but in recent years 3 volt sim cards have become the norm as a way to reduce power consumption and therefore increase battery life.
It is possible the the Siemens CL75 cannot supply enough power to operate her old sim card.
It is likely that if she requests a new sim card from her airtime supplier it will be the new 3volt type and should hopefully work.
I hope my first post is of some help.

She has said that she has purchased a new SIM but the service provider (cingular) don't do 3V SIMs??0

Well surely then thats not your fault? Where did you sell it, ebay? Did you have any repairs policy?0
-
Yeah, I sold it on ebay. She lodged a complaint on Paypal yesterday saying the phone was defective when it isn't - and they have placed a temp hold on funds.
No, I don't have a repairs policy.0 -
have u still got her details?
get her address and threaten her
call her stupid and say "its not my fault you got conned"
then just to confuse her, say its "3g not 3v" (the buttons are very close on the keyboard too, so you can get away with it) tell her to buy one, and report back, when it doesnt work, give her this address

Sorry, I ment returns! Although as you said it was a few weeks ago, thats probably not much help.
You could just get her to return it to you for a refund minus any fees (dont refund her until you have the phone, have checked it over and paid any fees involved in it being shipped from the US) but thats up to you. Remember you've sold her a phone that works fine, if she wants to buy from the UK she needs to look into things like this sim problem.0 -
send her a UK sim card FREE - see below!
http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/simoffer?WT.mc_id=directresponse_freesimpack
to prove it isnt the phone which is defective and her sim card being incompatible...
it isnt your fault it doesnt work...
A uk sim will work in the states... it will be enough to prove her wrong
orange sim cards are currently free on their website too!
TIP - never use paypal as a payment method when selling electronics... just isnt worth the hassle!:beer:0 -
Well, after further corespondence it seems that she hasn't even unlocked the phone as yet, even though she claimed it was done in a previous email!
Am I right in thinking a Siemens SL65 needs a cable to unlock??0 -
not sure which cable but there are people who can get codes for these for about £100
