Help re parking ticket and bailiffs

Today i have had a visit from a baliff re a parking ticket i got in june last year. He was quite nice considering!
Anyway, i purchased a ticket using my visa card and displayed the ticket. There must of been a gust of wind or something when i closed the car door and the ticket blew over.
I got a parking ticket, and called to say i had paid and had ticket and also had paid via card so would have proof there also.
Sent the ORIGINAL (silly i know now) ticket in, and heard nothing. Then forgot about it. I then got a court summons and spoke to the council again and sent in the card statement showing the date and my card co provided me with a timed transaction of when i paid. Sent it off, assurred i would see an end to it.
This am a balliff has arrived, i showed him to card statement etc and he told me to contact the council, so i did. They will not listen to me and wasnt the original ticket - but i sent this to them in june last year!!
They gave me the ticket number from the back of the ticket as per the photographs and said to ring the machine people. I did this but they cant help as they sold the machines to the council so cannot marry the ticket number the council gave me to the parking ticket
I now have a bailiffs letter and sum owing of over £300....... no one seems to want to assist me,. i am soo frustrated as i bought and displayed the ticket (ok, i know it blew over) i now dont have the ticket but do have teh card statements and timed transaction from my card co
can anyone help please. The balliff is giving me 7 days to get it sorted then is going to ring me, i really do not know what to do. I have only had 1 ticket before - and that wasnt legit - but they cancelled that as the machine wasnt working and i called the council to advise them of that so i have very little experience in dealing with this... all the info i have read is giving conflicting advice. i do not have £300 to give them
the council have given me the number off the back of the ticket to see if i can marry it up somehow but i do not know where to start
thanks

Don't ever say the ticket blew over. It is your responsibility to buy and display the ticket.
Just maintain you bought a ticket and have proven this.
Incidentally, surely you would have had a summons to attend Court prior to a bailiff being appointed.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

A court summons ? Was the ticket issued under the 1984 Act ?0

Thanks, the photo they have clearly shows the ticket face down. Yes, did get a summons and spoke to the court who said to speak to the council, which i did and AGAIN i sent copy of card statement . they said any probs they would contact me... i know its silly now but they never contacted me so i assumed all was ok- this isnt my usual approach to such matters but i had a lot of personal stuf going on at this time so didnt think about it too much0 -

Yes, it's all a pain in the butt.
Unfortunately with the ticket upside down, you will very likely have to pay as it is your responsibility to display the ticket properly. I had exactly the same thing happen about 10 years ago in Enfield, prior to traffic wardens having digital cameras. Fortunately I got the penalty cancelled by saying I had a valid ticket....
I know it ain't a lot of use to you though :eek:Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

If they had told me 12 months ago i needed to pay i would of done, now it is over £300!! i simply do not have that money i am on maternity leave and on SMP - infact i have had to sell the car to 'buy' me a few extra weeks off work. Its a mess isnt it0

they have also said they will cancel it if i can produce the ticket - but i cant produce it as i sent it them and they say they never got it!!0
