Thanks for the replies, yes he does go to private school so that must be why we have to pay. I've just gone to read the small print in the prospectus and it does say that fees for exams are charged - not how much though! Before anyone points out this massive cost of education, children only go to independant schools because DH is in the HM Forces and they pay 90% of fees!!
Still this extra cost has been a bit of a shock!Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0 -
How many exams are they doing? It should only be about £10 per exam, so that is rather a lot!Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

can you get HM forces to pay?0

my brothers kids were in private schooling because he was in the forces and kept being shipped abroad. He says that its abt right for 10 exams as like you he didnt get the full amount and had to pay some towards the fees, my neice and nephew both had exams and on average they were abt £15 per exam. and no hm forces wont pay for exams thats up to the parents..Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,

That's right jockettuk, they won't pay unless you have some of the schools allowance they give, leftover and we don't we use it all!
Never mind we'll pay it  Hope he passes them, no pressure! :rotfl:Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0 -
Fraid so. In a private school you pay for the GCSE exams and AS / A levels too.
School fees only cover the basic education. You pay for everything else.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

Yes and they add so much onto the bill!! We have just had his bill for the next term and although the Forces give us a generous allowance and covers much of it, the trips, sunday outings, snacks, exam fees, additional stationary, revisions aids all adds up and our contribution will be a wopping £950! The forces pay for the other £4600 though.Debtfree JUNE 2008 - Thank you MSE:T0
