sharing broadband

at the moment im on toucan 2meg broadband with speedtouch modem and have just got a laptop, i have a spare wanadoo speedtouch modem, is it possible to use the wanadoo modem on the laptop, say on the upstairs phone socket and have the pc on toucan downstairs but just not used braodband at the same time. Or will i have to just have to buy a modem router after buying the laptop the purse is a little empty

    Yes that is fine, use the same settings (username and password). No doubt you will want a wireless router soon as thats was using a laptop for internet is all about.

    thanks, it just to be getting on with till i can buy a router, but not sure which there are so many out there.
