I don't bother. I've had mine since it came out, and it ain't scratched..
the screen has a scratch resistant coating on, so you don't need a protector. also with the new oleophobic screen, it is easy wipe to get rid of finger prints..

I sold my original iphone recently and the buyer was very complimentary on its good condition. I use the socks and I think they're great personally. Anything harder is liable to get grit trapped in it.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

There's loads on ebay and in phones shops and hmv etc. but ebay is the cheapest.
Just depends what sort you prefer. I just have a hard case that clips onto the back for mine , stops the pack getting scratched and stops it being so slippy (i have the original Iphone)0 -
Personally I would get 1 of the following.

http://www.iskin.com/solo/

I have got the last one in white.
I also use a Screen protector. The following is excellent, you can not tell it is even on the phone.

I use the proper Apple ones (only because I bought them in the apple shop years ago and they're still going strong - at the time no-one else made them)
They call em ipod socks. My TV is broken!

I would advise anyone with an iPhone 3G S not to use a screen protector at all.
The new screens are still scratch proof, and also they have an oleophobic coating, which means the fingerprint smudges wipe off really really easily.
You use a screen protector, you'll lose a feature of the phone.
Also, on the old phones, with the scratch proof screen, it's kinda pointless having a screen protector IMO. My 1 year old iPhone 3G didn't have a scratch on the screen when I sold it, and it never did have a screen protector on!
