Beware check your receipt..borders stores overcharge you

 Went to a Borders Store today , bought mega load of gifts for birthday pressies , thought it seemed a bit expensive when paying but guessed i got a bit carried away. Sat in my car and double checked it , price tags against the receipt THEY HAD OVERCHARGED ME BY MORE THAN £50 !!! some items by pence , some by £££ss

Went back in and got the money back and an apology but thats not the point IT SHOULDNT HAPPEN and how many people are they ripping off daily ??
The biggest shock was the staff saying it happens ALL THE TIME !!!

Surely there is something legally that can be done??

I disagree. I think the OP should sue them for a million pounds.

How much did you spend?!? To not notice £50 overcharge, I'm presuming your total was over £500, as surely most people can guess their total within about 10%???
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Well, I think that a shop over-charging you by £50 is significant.
If it was an isolated case and a genuine mistake then I suppose that's it, but if it was a regular occurrence then that's something else.
Being caught thieving and simply returning the discrepancy doesn't stop you being a thief!
(Still, I guess if it's good enough for our MPs, then why not, eh?)

    omg-call the overcharge police..
  • Was in Borders yesterday.

We went to buy two copies of the same book. The first one scanned at 18.99. Second one ditto, but this one had their price sticker on it showing 17.99. So she had to reduce the till price. Then had to do it for the first one. She was not happy. Especially when I pointed out that their own website had them for £14.24 and she refused to match it, so we left without actually buying them.
