What's The Best Deal For An Occasional Mobile User
I am currently with Virgin PAYG, now as a tenner would normally last me at least six weeks, I guess no company is going to get rich on the calls I make
Anyway Virgin have just written to me informing me of a change in their tariff and I quote:
Many thanks for any advice offered

Anyway Virgin have just written to me informing me of a change in their tariff and I quote:
Now my phone calls are generally very short: 'hello, I'm fine, yes I'll pick it up, be home at 4.00 see you then.' or something of that nature. Now 20p seems expensive just to say that. Given the above info would I be better off with some other mobile company and would I be able to take my Virgin PAYE number with me? I'm using a Samsung bought from Virgin so it will be locked. From the 27th of July, you can get free minutes for some of the calls you make. Calls to Virgin mobile's will cost 20p per minute for the first 5 minutes each dayand are then free after that! Calling UK landlines will now cost 20p per minute for the first 5 minutes each day, then 5p per minute for the rest of the day.
Many thanks for any advice offered
Kevin

Asda mobile have a flat rate of 8p/min to any phone any time and 4p/text and you can pick up one of their sims for only 47p.. Also if you are slightly technologically savvy you might be able to unlock your phone for free over the internet although i do not recommend this if you are a novice.0

Tesco's Pay as you go Lite Tariff is another option at a flat rate of 8p/min to any phone any time and 4p/text.
Details here:

I'm on tesco for 10ppm and 5ptext, but you can have 3 numbers that are charged at half price. Since 90% of my calls are to home or the wife's mobile most of my calls are 5ppm. If this is your kind of usage it may be worth considering.

The only tariff I can see on the website with these charges requires a minimum top-up of £15 per month or have I missed something?0 -

Tesco actually charge 20ppm and 10ptext on their payg tariff. So half price is 10ppm and 5p a text.
See:http://www.tesco.com/mobilenetwork/content.aspx?page=36
Therefore their new lite tariff 8ppm and 4p a text is a better bet for some.0 -
Tesco Mobile Lite tarriff, I changed over today by calling 4455. With the exception of the data charges and minimum top up it is just like Asda mobile but with the option to block premium rate texts via parental controls.

Sorry, did I miss something here? I know the data charges are high but could you just clarify the minimum top up bit please?0
