Time for Installation

Does anyone have an idea of how long it takes to get internet installed when you sign up to a new company? I move to a new house on Wednesday but we can't really start sorting it until then.

Thanks.

Around 4 weeks was my friends experience with talk talk recently.
I'm assuming you mean getting it activated rather than installed which would imply someone coming round.

    Thanks for your reply.

Well there is a BT landline at the house already and I believe the last people had Virgin Broadband and a wireless router from what I saw. I'm not greatly clued up but I guess as the BT line is already in it makes things much simpler.

I'm just worried it will take forever and I need the internet for work :(

Any companies that I should simply avoid?

Was the Virgin broadband ADSL or Cable?
If its cable then you should be able to get it going very quickly.

I'm afraid I'm not sure :o as my boyfriend is really the one who knows more about it, so I will have to ask him which it is.

If it was cable, would it still be fairly quick even if we changed companies?

There are no other cable companies.

Oh I see of course, because Virgin took over the previous cable company didn't they? :o

Well I'll just have to hope they don't take too long. My boyfriend wants to go with BT I think but I'm wary of them. I guess all companies have their problems though.
