Oakey was there really a need for these quotes:
"so you want to go back to the shop and ask for another £10 off it even though you was happy to pay the price -£20. How would you like it if you owned a shop and someone brought something back and asked for the difference because you have a sale on. Would you go into DFS and say that sofa is on sale now, but i havnt sat on the one i bought for full price can i have half my money back? They would just laugh at you, its cheeky for 1 and disgusting to be that scabby"
"or just accept you bought it at a bargain price already and stop thinking about taking it back. I find it disgusting to be honest, if you wasnt happy to pay £20 for it, then why buy it?"
Must be great waking up everyday being you. Is this not a money saving website? or is this just a place where you can abuse people for wanting to save money.0 -
I used to work at debenhams & did the very same thing for some customers

Ofcourse youre not supposed to, but if the tables were turned id appreciate it. Ignoring the ridiculous comments of some of the other people on here- you did good!
"Whoever said that money doesn't buy happiness didn't know where to shop."0 -
I have done similar with the catalogues when I have ordered something then they have reduced it within days - I order it again, then return it with the earlier advice note - as long as it's within 14 days there's no problem and I am sure I am not alone in doing it - the OP hadn't worn the item so she isn't out to deceive anyone - anyway, I'll leave it there as I need to go and pick my scabs now.0

phsychoduck wrote: »Yes you did ask the question and nobody was able to answer it fully, i.e nobody had actually done that at debenhams before. However lots of people came on with their opinions (the joys of posting on here!)
And thats all Oakey was doing, posting their take on the matter. Now because the opinion was different than what you wanted to hear does that make it childish? Inane? Or make Oakey a fool? No, just offers another side of the arguement to consider!
Did that warrant you telling some to p off "your thread"? I don't really think so!
Personally I would have tried to get the extra money off, after all don't ask you don't get, so well done for getting the extra discount (good money saving at work)!
But its worth remembering MSE is a friendly site to ask questions such as this and not really a place to flame people who have differing opinions to yourself!
I love the way the word "childish" (@ the person the OP posted to) and "p1ss off" are on the same line:rolleyes: Says it all really!
OP,when you post on here, you post to the masses, you cannot pick and chose who writes and reads your threads, nor what they think. If you cannot agree with that, or it affects you too much then maybe posting an open question is not the best thing for you...
Can see that you wanted an answer to a question, but there is no need for abuse and (in your words) I am sure Martin would not approve of that.0 -

Someone has told me to take it back for refund and buy it back instantly at the new price, is this possible, has anyone done this at Debenhams? Thanks

I tried to buy some bannanas at a market stall the other day. The guy wanted £5 per kilo. I told him another stall was selling bannanas for £2 per kilo. He said then why don't I go and buy my bannanas there? I said that he had run out of stock. The guy said, 'When I run out of stock my bannanas are £2 per kilo as well!'

Many years ago a chap I worked with went round several scrap yards trying to find replacement panels for his car. He got replacement wings from one yard but would not pay the asking price for the bonnet. After trying other places without success. Eventually he went back and offered to buy the bonnet at the original price. The chap in the scrap yard said "No, the price has gone up because I now know that the bonnet that I have is the only one in the area."
By the way Oakey, I for one, agree with your original opinion on the subject.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
:rotfl: nice one 27col
Indeed the further reduction was probably because due to the sizes left showing on the stock database
We often heavily reduced pieces more if for example if you only have a size 8 and a size 22 in stock
You said yourself that the size was hard to find initially so it was prob a 12,14 or 16 ?
I personally think you should have just kept it
People think oh its a big store it does not matter they still make loads of profit etc.. tell that to the hundreds out of work all the Allders dept store staff etc... who lost there jobs
Dont begrudge a company profit it pays peoples wages (amongst other things)"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."
All truth goes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Then, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.0 -
Bet no one would do it if the item went up in price and paid the difference:rolleyes::beer: Am thinking of a new one:beer:0
