Chicken Pox scars

Not sure if this is in the right place.

My 2 yr old son recently had chicken pox on his face, back and head.

The Chicken Pox were huge and still has a very large ones on his scalp. Today when getting him changed for nursery I noticed that some of the back ones, the scab has come off to reveal some very big dents in his skin. Is this normal, will it stay like this, is there anything I can put on it to prevent scarring??
Thanks

My two have both got one scar each from chicken pox an for my dd it been 8yrs and my ds1 3 years so I think they are forever (although they are hardly noticeable i have to say) Maybe you could try bio-oil?

Scars are forever unless you try surgery to cover them - however, you'll then have surgery scars - I've had two on my face all my life, and until right now, never even thought of them (and I'm a girl!)

    Seriously, don't worry about them

Thanks, these are really deep. My friend said about bi-oil but wasnt sure if it would be ok to use on him.

My view and what i have been made to believe is that the chances of these scars going away is higher and better for younger kids as the skin is still growing and changing etc.
For an adult like myself, it is no chance. I had chicken pox when i was 30 yrs and i have to live with the scars sadly. My GP explained to me the theory above i.e. it may go away for children etc

I would have thought Bio-oil was your best bet BUT i wouldn't use it yet - give them a chance to heal a bit on there own and then try it.

i had chicken pox scars on my face, i had it at 8 years old with one particular scar on my eyebrow. it had faded completely by the time i was 14. i wouldnt worry too much. skin regenerates itself and sunlight helps to heal scarring. i would use bio - oil as well tho, check the ingredients on the bottle. if its ok to use on a pregnant womans bump im sure its safe for a toddler.

I would advise the biooil too. i had chicken pox when i was 29 and i got a friend to rub it on my back which really helped. Unforunately I had picked one pock on my chest as thought it was a blister where my bra had rubbed. This has left a blister like piece of loose skin rather than a dent weirdly! I used to be self conscious about it but I think you forget with time.

At your childs age they wil prob have little mark left once thier skin has grown with them.

My eldest had a couple of scars on his face - including a really deep one at the side of his nose where he picked at a scab (he was 5 when he had chickenpox) Nearly 5 years later the small scars have disappeared and the one by his nose isn't all that noticeable, so they do fade quite well.

I woudl give bio-oil a try after checking the label if you're really worried, but I reckon they would fade as he grows anyway

DS had chicken pox afew months back and the scars on his face did look quite bad for a whiule but once the redness goes and they really start to heal they're not that noticable. They look a bit like freckles really.

I had chicken pox aged 5 and still have the scar of one on my check(about check bone level) and i'm now 31 so inmay case it never disappeared, but then there wasen't things like bio-oil when i was younger so it may be worth giving it a go.
