Just checked and they're only £17-18 odd with postage. My last two computers have been with Eclipse, just ordered a monitor from them. I've never been overly impressed with their shipping but I can't fault them otherwise.
  • I agree with post #7 - their post sales service is abysmal (as evidenced by the number of people queuing at their returns counter most saturday mornings.

I only live about 5 miles from them but I wouldn't use them again (just my personal opinion)

Just a technical point about huge memory USB Keys to bear in mind.

    They fuse!

I am an ICT teacher and we gave one to one of our GCSE students as she was studying at a number of sites.

Well, one day her's fused, meaning she lost all her coursework as she did not back it up.

So, if you are going to use them, always back them up.

I use two Gb ones to back up all my data so that if one does fuse then I can fall back on the other.

    Just a thought.

Wish i'd read this thread earlier.
I made an order with Eclipse, picked a day when someone would be in.
    No delivery.
Even though I checked stock they used out of stock as an excuse!!
No one called to let me know it wasn't coming.
They are very poor. I just canceled the whole order (!20 quids worth).
Then again, this is my second try at finding a decent place, I tried savastore first, they e-mailed the day it was supposed to arrive telling me one item was out of stock so my order couldn't be sent.
Are there ANY decent internet companies??

I've used Picstop loads of times - the delivery speed and service is awesome!

SVP are the standard by which I compare other internet companies. With postage, their 1GB card works out at £2 more than the Eclipse one, but I can vouch for their customer service wholeheartedly.

In fact, the regular "cheapest DVD recorder" thread could benefit from a crossreference to SVPs site (they currently appear to be £85.86 inc delivery & VAT). They also have a "buyers club" which is free to join, and sends out regular promotions such as 99p shipping, brand discounts etc. You can forward their email to anyone for them to benefit, although they do ask that recipients join - pretty much like the moneysavingexpert.com weekly email.

No connection, satisfied customer, yadda yadda yadda

Yep, there 30-day no quibble money-back guarantee is very good, & I've never had to pay return postage on stuff I've returned. You can't go wrong.

Wish I could have used that excuse when I was at school ;)

I can't belive you give your students USB stick what a waist of money (not really lost it more like they want to exchange for cash & sell the stick on ebay). Try his site for your students http://www.mamut.com Companies will be given up to 500 MB backup storage, whilst private individuals will receive 250 MB, absolutely free. Existing users of Mamut Business Software will receive 1GB, whilst users of Mamut Home Software will receive 500 MB, absolutely free.
