one thing i'm still not sure about....
how do you open downloaded software and install it?0 -
do you mean the packages in puppy or the cd image of puppy?
For the packages you use the package manager thingummy that comes with puppy, cant recall the name but look on the puppy linux forum . For the cd image of puppy you can burn it as an image in nero .0 -

i have to say i am confused.....
i downloaded puppy linux to a cd .....and have put it on another computer.....but not installed it to the hardrive........i'm using it now....via the loaded cd. (on this old computer...... there isnt any windows there any more)0 -
By its very nature, the contents of a 'live CD' are almost impossible to modify. Whilst you can install software using the distribution's package manager, it'll magically disappear once you shut the computer down.
If however you install Puppy to your hard disk drive you'll be able to add and remove applications at will.0 -
oh right, thanks for that!
another thing please........
i cant get sound.........
ive adjusted the volume thingy and the mixer box thingy...but zero noise!0 -
Can't help there I'm afraid. What I will say however is this: Linux distributions come in many flavours, so should you find that something doesn't work in one you're almost certain to find another in which it does.
Xubuntu, for example.0
