I too missed that vital piece of info! and I'm normally pretty careful about making sure the account does what i need.I applied for a form last week ,still not arrived so no harm done,but will be more careful next time.Disappointing.

Also thanks from me for spotting that, although its been a week and I still have'nt recieved my application form, I also thought it was a easy access and deposit account.

I too missed the fact that the account will be closed for new deposits in the future. However, I had assumed in any case that the variable rate would drop when they had suckered enough people in and that I might not be depositing much in the future. It will do as a temporary home for the proceeds of my maturing Leeds fixed rate bond.

They must be swamped with applications. I couldn't find it on the Leeds B.S. website. Following a link that I posted earlier I found a page that states:

"Product temporarily unavailable"

Looks like I got in there just in time, even though it's not as good as I first thought. I applied late Wednesday night, sent off the form yesterday, and had an email today to say it's now open. Pretty good service!

I completed mine Tuesday, received hard copy in the post on Wednesday.

Besides not being the good account i had hoped,they still haven't sent the forms so i have signed up with Alliance and Leicester instead at a slightly better rate,AND the abilty to add funds as and when.

I phoned Leeds Building Society earlier today to find out whether or not they had received my initial cheque. I was told that this account closed last night and that I would have ten working days in which to get any additional deposits to them.
