madasafish and outlook express

Was hoping for some help, as I am not having much luck figuring this out for myself.
We recently signed up to BB with Madasafish and since then my partner has been unable to send outgoing emails from Outlook Express. She has a Wanadoo email address (we previously used Wanadoo dial-up to connect to the internet) and wants to continue using this address. The following error message appears when hitting Send/Receive email button.
'Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'pop.wanadoo.co.uk', Server: 'smtp.wanadoo.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F'
I have checked the mail server settings which appear to be correct according to Wanadoo online support. The Madasafish support homepage records this problem as being with Symantec Norton Anti-virus settings. I have done a Live Update and all files are apparently up to date. There are also links to other Windows/Outlook Express support pages that I have tried.
it does mention on the Windows site that some Internet providers do not allow you to use other providers email servers for outgoing mail. Is this true of madasafish?
can anybody suggest anything to resolve my problem sending mail?
thanks.

Most of the time an ISP will block emails being sent on their outgoing server (smtp.wanadoo.co.uk) unless you're connected to their network (unless you authorise through other means first). Since you're using Madasafish and not Wanadoo, I think this is what Wanadoo are doing. You can still use the Wanadoo account, but to send email I'd suggest using Madasafish's SMTP server. According to their website it's mail.madasafish.com .. So find smtp.wanadoo.co.uk in your email account settings and change it to Madasafish's.0

Hi JodyC,
I think Steve pretty much answered your question!
For complete instructions on how to set up your Outlook Express, please visit: http://support.madasafish.com/. You’ll need to enter you operating system and the product that you’re on in the drop down menus in the upper right hand corner and hit the ‘search’ button. When the screen refreshes, please click on the tab that says “e-mail” and you’ll find instructions there on how to set up Outlook Express.
Kind regards,
Samara
