Pay As You Go Broadband

My parents are looking to get Internet Access, primarily for email use with the odd browsing session. I've been looking at a pay-as-you-go broadband option as this would appear to meet their low usage needs and keep the cost within their control. Any thoughts on whether this sounds like a good approach? If so, Costco have a 3mobile option with 12gb pre-loadedfor £80, is this a good deal?

I bought the 12gb prepaid 3g dongle last September: it cost me £149.99!
I am so pleased with it that I have just bought a 24gb version for £118.24.
There are many bad reviews, but some people expect too much, they want to watch films and download lots of music, and some people live in places where the reception is bad.
If you do get the prepaid kit, you do not need to give them your bank or credit card details nor take out a contract.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

If they have a BT line, look around you can get very low cost monthly broadband, particularly if only a small usage limit is required.
I would definately suggest you take a look at http://www.broadbandchoices.co.uk/
or a similar Broadband comparison site before going for a pay as you go option.
Pay as you go is a rip off on 3g. The speed can really vary alarmingly even when you have a decent reception, which can restrict some activities.
Shop around and for about £110 a year, you could find a fast internet connection, with reasonable usage limit.0 -
3g is fine for emails and browsing. If you have a cheap mobile phone and don't make many calls, you can cancel your landline!
You can get a 3gb prepaid kit for £49.99 just to give it a try.
As I said, I paid £118.24 for 24GB, which is an ample allowance for the next TWO years.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

It really depends on how much you use it and how you use the internet0 -

As Pennysmakepounds says the o2 dongle & one month's usage for effective nil cost is a real bargain to try out the concept/technology PLUS you get the bonus of being able to use various WiFi installations at 00's maybe 000's of UK locations (though your dongle has to have a live subscription at the time).0

o2's website seems to have had a meltdown with this offer.0
