Proof of House Deposit

Options
Hi All

Slight concern. We've had our mortgage application confirmed all for one last thing, we just need statements with our deposit on. We have the money available, I have £8000 in my saving account and OH has the remaining £3500 in her savings account with Barclays.

Problem is we don't have any statements and Britannia need the proof with address statements ASAP. Other half's bank is a nightmare, they only ever provide 0845 numbers and will we not have to wait a significant number of days before getting a statement posted?

What is the quickest way round this? Combine the money by taking it out of hers and it to mine, how much money are you allowed to take out without notice etc? Want to get this to the lender ASAP, its beginning to annoy me.

I had a similar problems last year, when my deposit was in my Nationwide e savings and so I wouldn't get a statement easily. I transferred it into my Nationwide current account, then ran round the various ATMs until I got a mini statement print out that show the last four digits of my account number (with the rest as astrixs) and then sent this along with a photocopy of my debit card with my name on the front, highlighting the account number that matched with the mini statement.

I'm sure there's an easier way, but this was the quickest for me.

Can you go into a branch and ask customer services to print out a statement for mortgage reasons?

Otherwise can you print an online statement and then go into the details section and print the address? As long as the account numbers correspond to should be enough.

Is this just for the application or is the mortgage about to be drawn?

Do not transfer it to yours as they want to see where this money has come from, i.e it is not a loan that will really be a second charge on the property.

I think we'll end up doing something similar at this rate.

I printed off my Barclay's statement & the printout had my full name + account number on it. They accepted this, although wanted additional proof of identity.

We are in exactly the same position. We are going with Britannia and they want proof of our deposit money (which is currently spread around various institutions). We have provided print out of our online accounts but they seem to want more. Our banks do not even use paper statements so I am going to phone them up tomorrow and explain the situation. I cant provide something that isnt there and in this day and age (ie using computers to avoid lots of paperwork) you would think that they would have some system in place for people like me to 'prove' that we have the money.

Would a 'print screen' off showing the details be accepted?

I had already sent proper print outs from our online accounts showing balances, names etc etc etc. But seemingly that was not good enough!

I think they just love making people jump through hoops.

KInda glad I raised this then. We tried the same but not good enough, it seems with Britannia only a postal statement will suffice, we explained the situation to Abbey and they said 7-10 working days for a postal statement. Not good enough. Will have to speak to Britannia, they'll have to reason or wait, one of the two.
