Ebay Auctions are Auctions. CONFIRMED ...

Sorry, but no piece of evidence he has yet produced has confirmed this statement, and it is highly misleading.

Except for Consumer Directs Confirmation of that fact in my first post, The Oft confirm this as it is they who advised me that they could answer this question.

But let me guess, you are not prepared to accept the official line of Consumer Direct And The OFT as Proof?

He's been registered 4 months- that's 4 months of the same 2 sentances, over and over, and over again- whether they have any relevence to the thread, or (usually) whether they don't.

Again not true but you can post whatever nonsense you want here apparently.

Try the block user function if you don't like what i say,

Cyril, I'd love you to be right, I really really would but the cold hard fact is that you're not..

    I AM ;)
You can pretend as much as you want to but it's not going to alter the fact that you are giving out false hope to people..

    I'M NOT ;)

And there is no risk involved in following my advice, the ombudsman service is free and regarding the other issue that was mentioned regarding account freezes, most never need go as far as serving court papers but if they do it costs £25 no need for solicitors, they get that £25 back if they win ;)
Far, far brighter legal minds have tried and failed so stop spouting the same old bolloxs as if it were fact and do us all a favour.
    .

Have they? well i've won three times against paypal, maybe i should apply for their jobs :p

Just because ebay say they are not an auctioneer does not necessarily make it so for the purposes of consumer law and it certainly does not mean that most of the sales there are not auctions. If that's how the law applies to internet auctions, then too bad that ebay do not consider themselves an auctioneer. It's not really relevant. Looks more like a straw man argument devised to shift attention from the basic point Cyril was making.

EDIT: I guess it makes a change from the constant Ad Hominem attacks.

Yes, that one. No doubt it will be selectively ignored yet again.

No doubt there will be a rush of nonsense posts now to push into the back pages, i might just keep reposting it as my response. ;)

Their selective ignorance is one thing but this guy dontdoit is another thing all together, this thread basically was Born out of his claim that ebay sales by bidding were not auctions because there was no "auctioneer" i have shown this to be false yet he still thinks he is right.

He just can't grasp that an auction can exist without an auctioneer where a computer system handles the bidding process, i give up trying to explain it to him.

We managed to get our account unfrozen without anyones help and without taking them to court <insert shock horror> You just pester them, and they will sort it. Making vauge noises about legal action helps, but actually doing it is preposterous and unessecary.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine
