Advice please for selling a car on ebay

I'm not new when it comes to selling normal items but cars is a whole new can of worms to me!

Basically what I have done so far is looked at similar cars for sale to get an idea.

If anyone has any advice they can offer or any threads I should be looking at id appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

As many photos ase reasonably possible.

Ensure you highlight all dings, scratches etc and give as much information as possible.

Ask for a small deposit within 24 hours.

Encourage viewing and ask therm to contact you if they have any questions you can then give them your mobile number.

    Don't price it too high.

    Then away you go.

Personally my old Mercedes went within 24 hours of listing as a cash sale off ebay and I just pulled the listing. I listed it at £30 to cove listing fees and sold it for £250. When the only offer I had was from a scrappy for £50. It is now off to start a new life in Nigeria!!!

I've sold a few cars on ebay , all quickly too. I always list them as a classified ad , costs £12.99 for 28 days and you don't pay any other fees , no final value fee or anything. This way works out a lot cheaper than listing as a regular auction. You can set it so buyers can send you best offers , which is how mine have always sold.

If you know a price you are happy to accept use ebay as a shop window, 99p start and wait for the right person to ask a b i n price. Sell off ebay and pull the listing, only pay for the pics.
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

    Thanks for the replies.

I have pretty much already done what you said like taking lots of photos and putting as much information in as i can.

I did put it on as a classified with best offer and set it slightly higher then I expect to get and so far it seems to have worked as I had a lady ring me earlier and another rather strange one that only seems to want to txt questions rather then actually ring me or even give me a name.

My gut feeling on that one is steer well clear as its bound to end in tears.

Thanks again all for you advice fingers crossed this lady will buy it tomorrow!

I've sold a couple of cars on the Bay without any problems. A cash deal is usually the best option, and it goes without saying to never hand over any documents (V5, MOT, etc) and keys without getting the cash first, regardless of how 'nice' the buyer might seem, somebody to witness the transaction is also handy, and issue a written receipt with all relevant details.

    Hope this helps.

Don't pay for pics, upload them to a free image hoster linked to your ebay auction

    I've been Money Tipped!
I just sold two cars one without incident one with!!!

Buyers don't always bother to turn up so if you can say they must come within 7 days or whatever you put on listing. Also get a name and phone and check the phone no is right, one of my buyers had a non real phone no so i couldn't contact him.

Also make sure they fill in (or you) the v5 document o say ownership has been transferred and give the customer a timed and dated recepit so you are not responsible if they drive off without insurance from that time.

If owner wins on ebay and doesn't turn up as a final resort open a dispute to settle it. Most tips picked up on here!! Good luck!
