I think it's a moth that has only recently emerged. The wings don't appear to be properly filled out, which is why it looks weird, and hasn't flown away.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

I dont think it is a bee! It has not flew anywhere,, just trawling up and down/ across the grass all day. Plus it does not make any noise.

It could still be a bee though. The bees seem to be dying out in some places and it's quite often that you'll find a bee lying and moving slightly on the grass. They usually aren't dead but look very close to dying.

Far too white for a bee!

It reminds me of a small white butterfly that might have been caught by a cat but managed to get away. Either that or as mrb says, a moth; possibly a brimstone moth (not to be confused with brimstone butterflies). Either way I'd go for it having had a run in with another animal. It's possible that a dragonfly could have grabbed it, but not got a good enough hold and dropped it; same goes for birds.

  • The white thing is a flower though is it not? Is the insect not the yellow thing beneath the white flower?

I wouldn't have thought so as the photos show the white parts to be different shapes, as with wings opening and shutting, I'd have thought.

I agree with Mrbadexample that it could be a newly emerged moth - their wings are damp and folded up & it takes a while for them to pump it up. I suppose sometimes this fails and they're left with deformed wings and just have to walk about...

The only other thing I can think of is that it contains parasitoids which are screwing with its development.

Could it be a young bee totally covered in pollen ?

I would go with the newly emerged moth idea as well, possibly a buff ermine moth. Does it have a fluffy head ;)
