Scaffold boards as decking

We finished a decking job using the carcasses of old kitchen units. It's given us an attractive patchwork effect and has proved to be surprisingly strong and resilient to the weather.

Tanks to whoever resurected this post as the information is timely for me.
I am cash strapped and came across the idea of scaffolding as decking. I know it won't last forever, but was just wondering roughy how long it could last.

Money2008, how long have u had yours?

I am designing a garden literally on the edge of the sea and want to use scaffold boards as decking - think it would look amazing - have read through this thread and find it v interesting (even if it is resurrected
) I have used cedar decking in the past but just think the big boards would look so good.:smileyhea
