Go to York! It's only a couple of hours drive/on the train from Manchester (I used to go that way when coming home from university there to my parents' house in Lancashire). Lots of history and museums to look round, good quirky unusual shops, nice not too expensive restaurants and cafes... it's great!
If you want any more information specifics feel free to ask, I lived there for three years so know lots of good places!
Lastminute.com and laterooms.com are good for finding places at short notice as others have said."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
Of course Hilton are doing a 2 nights for the price of one offer at the moment " [FONT="]Book by 17th August, for a minimum of two nights between 26th June and 31st August, and when you pay for one night, the second is free"
If you can find a hotel with rooms available on the deal - problem solved!
