Please help 2 love birds on first romantic trip

We normally camp but this weekend 27 June 2009 we'd like to have our first romantic weekend away. Our majour issue is every hotel seems to expect a stay of at least two nights. All we wish for is one night in a lovely hotel in a location with local pubs, great walks and things to do two hours max from Manchester (ideally somewhere near lakes, forest or water to chill from the city). Any ideas would be brilliant for our first romantic getaway together.
Thank you in advance

Have a look at lastminute.com they have rooms for 1 night.
The Lake district is really nice.0 -
The Peak District is also lovely. Here are a few suggestions:

This one looks gorgeous but expensive:

Most lake district hotels would require a two night stay up untill near the time ie saturday morning.
one i would reccommend that dosent is Clare House in Grange-over-Sands

Have you tried www.laterooms.com
most of hotels I've booked from there are ok with one night stays0 -
This one has excellent reviews and is in Ambleside which is a lovely town in the lakes. Fab restaurants and ideal place to start walks

Hi
I stayed in this place two Saturdays ago:
http://www.marsdenbedandbreakfast.com/
I don't know whether they'd have availability this late as they only have 2 rooms, but they allow 1 night stays and it was beautiful, more like a boutique hotel than a B&B.
Marsden is lovely with a river and some lovely walks/pubs/cafes and not far from Manchester at all.0 -
We've stayed at the place below in the Lake District (with a Superior Four Poster Room
) two years running, five nights each time. And we'll be going back next year.
The restaurant is simply fantastic - we always stay dinner bed and breakfast as it's the best food we've eaten anywhere in the country (and we've been to some nice restaurants).
It's run by a really nice family and Windermere is a great base to explore the Lakes from. My OH took me up Helvellyn this year (furthest I've walked in a day and highest I've ever been) and it nearly killed me.

I don't think they have a minimum stay, but they may be booked up with this short notice as it's pretty popular.0 -

We stayed just oustide of Chester last weekend. You could see if the B&B we used still has availability: http://www.higherfarm.co.uk/# Gorgeous setting with amazing views.
Good pubs in the area - we ate at the Grosvenor Arms at Aldford - and nice, romantic rooms.
I imagine it's not too far from Manchester (not the best when it comes to distances!)0
