I'm on the verge of signing with BT broadband and notice I can go wireless for an extra £25, but there is no mention of ADSL on the page.

Is this the kind of thing I need or something else? Sorry for all the questions, I really have no clue with all this. TIA0 -
Yes that would be what you need (or similar)To infinity and beyond!0

Note of caution. Apparently BT are fixing some of their hardware so that it only works with BT. This may have consequences if you want to change provider in the future, you may need new hardware. There are some sites around which claim to be able to unfix this but you do so at your own risk.Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. I've signed up with BT internet now and got the wireless modem router (a few of my freinds are with them and after a few calls say they are happy with it so gone with their recommendations for the service.)
My broadband will be connected next Tuesday when everything gets delivered and my laptop is here on Thursday. Now all i need is a dingle dangle dongle thing to get my PC wireless and then sit back and wait for the summer so I can surf in the garden.
Ohhhh, I feel like the queen.
Thankyou everyone for all your help, I couldn't have done it all without your help. I have pressed the thaks button but I just wish I could press it more to show my appreciation.
Now, what can I do on my laptop between Thursday and Tuesdays connection, ......hmmmmmm, decisions decisions, lol.
Thankyou ... Love you all x x x x x x x x x x x x x x0 -
I’ve seen eyebrows raised a few times on this site when it’s mentioned that Madasafish sell the wireless router for £75.99.
I would like to take the opportunity to illustrate that in some circumstances you’re still saving money by buying the router up front with Madasafish then “free” with other providers – additionally all hardware that we sell is not network locked so you can use it with any ADSL provider.
Let’s say your broadband usage is well below 5GB a month:
Total first year cost with Madasafish buying the Wireless Router up front: (£10.99*6) + (£16.99*6) + £75.99 + £5.99 = £249.86 first year cost
<The £5.99 is the P&P on the router>
Total first year cost with BT on their Wireless Freedom package & ‘free’ wireless network locked router: (£25.99*3) + (£26.99*9) = £320.88 first year cost
Madasafish is still £71.02 less expensive even with the wireless router cost up front and you’re getting a router that isn’t networked locked.
A few facts on our Voyager 2110 wireless router:
It is ADSL2+ ready – this means that when the next phase of upgrades to ADSL technology take place (increasing maximum speeds from 8Mb to 24Mb) this router will be able to handle the increased speeds. This is not typically the case with the free models.
It is also a 4 port router – ideal for connecting printers and other wired devices. Again, not the case with the free ones.
It is not locked to our network – unlike the devices from BT, Wanadoo and others, this router will work with any ADSL service. We don’t lock it down to just work with our network as we consider this to be a restrictive practice.Madasafish Customer Care0 -
Wireless routers can be bought much cheaper elsewhere - the madasafish router would however be suitable for the person that wants an easy life (as I am sure that madasafish would help support it).To infinity and beyond!0

I signed up for the £14.99 per month option as I am only able to get speeds 10 x faster at the moment so I'm not on the dearer package. However, after spending 4 years on AOL dial -up it will be heaven.
Also, I read a lot about faster speeds and even though some ISPs offer very fast speeds, sometimes they can only go as fast as the page allows (or something)
So, my monthly payments are the same as they have always been with AOL and for an extra £25 I am wireless ... I think thats a good deal.0 -
Sorry guys, I was reading the BT page as only supplying the router with the Wireless Freedom package! I'm pleased that you did the £14.99 option with the £25 router - fiscally it makes a lot more sense

In fairness here is the amended figure for BT Option 1 (2GB usage) with the wireless router:
(£14.99*3) + (£17.99*9) + 25 = £231.88 first year cost.
Total first year cost with Madasafish (5GB usage) buying the Wireless Router up front: (£10.99*6) + (£16.99*6) + £75.99 + £5.99 = £249.86 first year cost
<The £5.99 is the P&P on the router>
The Madasafish packge with the wireless router is £17.98 more - however you're getting 5GB as opposed to 2GB a month and you're getting the router that isn't locked into the network.
However, if you're doing less than 2GB a month, in true Money Saving Expert style, you've saved yourself £17.98 so you made a good decision!Madasafish Customer Care0 -
