  • You could also include a bottle of Spanish olive oil. The Spanish lovingly refer to their olive oil as "oro liquido" which means liquid gold. Perhaps that might be of interest to them given that they spend a few months in Spain every year.
  • it's my parent's Golden Wedding Anniversary next weekend. We are planning a surprise family meal, with a Limo to take them there! Can't wait to see their faces. Regarding the golden box of groceries, we have done something similar, but included silly items like gold socks, cheap gold jewellry, elnette gold hairspray, gold shower gel, ferrero rocher chocs, cup hooks, screws n nails.... Hope this helps and that you all have a good time. Also doing a scrapbook of photos n momentos

I am posting it here although I am not a 'Silver Saver' yet, but I would welcome advice from those who are.

My In-laws are celebrating their golden wedding shortly and we (their 3 kids + partners and children) would like to club together to get them something. Obviously the 'golden' theme springs to mind, but that seems to suggest things mostly out of our price range.

I would guess that we have about £75 (maybe up to £100) to spend and would welcome ideas for gifts that would appeal to them. Neither are keen on 'ornaments' that have no other purpose.

Both in their 70s, relatively healthy - He is keen on cycling and fly-fishing. She is less active (arthritis), but is keen on reading and keeping up with all 7 grandsons (aged 3 - 12). They spend the first 3-4 months of each year living in their camper van in Spain. They are not particularly interested in gardening and like to live quite a 'simple' life.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Don't know if this would apply but my BIL got hold of all my MIL/FIL's old photos which were on slides and got them transferred onto disk and then produced a photo album/book. The picture quality was dodgy but that was down to the quality of the slides. If you have the expertise, you might be able to photoshop them a bit for better results but the album was very well received.

  • It was my parents golden wedding anniversary last month "February" and i found it very difficult to find something they didnt already have or would want to keep as a momento as they don't do "dust collectors". I was thrilled to find a superb selection of quality offerings on http://www.a1gifts.co.uk/golden-wedding-gifts.aspx . I bought one of their 50th bowls along with a photo album and although I was sceptical the service was quick and quality was great. Well worth a view and saved me hours of shop trawling.
