Upgrading on T Mobile?

Hello folks,
I am with T Mobile and had a 12 month contract - got 500 mins and 300 texts and paid £35 but got almost all of this back via redemption. I know I can change networks and get a similar deal, but how about staying with T Mobile? What kind of deal can I expect? Can I only upgrade through them? Seems like I can't get a new phone and deal AND stay with T Mobile through most sites, as it is seen as an upgrade.
