Working Tax Credits

Can somebody throw some light on this if possible?
Earlier this year I was claiming Working Tax Credits. Unfortunately due to redundancy I was no longer eligible and informed HMR&C I was no longer working.
When I started another job I informed HMR&C who sent me another claim form which I completed and returned to them.
6 weeks later I haven't heard so today I phoned them and was informed that I am no longer eligible!!!
I was told that I now need a disability or children to claim Working Tax Credits!! I am not disabled nor have children.
My understanding was that if my income was less than £16,000 which it is then I am eligible.
Does anybody know the criteria for claiming Working Tax Credits?
Thanks

Was it a joint or single application you made? The max income to still get a tax credit award for a single person is a ltitle over 13,000 (sorry don't have exact figs) and for a couple the max income is just under 18000.0

I think minimum is 16 hours a week not 30.0

My application was a single one.
If it is £13,000 then I no longer qualify although I'm sure I read on MSE somewhere than the wage limit was £16,000. If it is £16,000 then I do qualify!!!.0 -
if you have no children then you have to be working 30+ hours a week to claim, if you have children then its 16+ hours. if you're under these hours then you can't claim i'm afraid.0

Why dont you fill out the form on the working tax website to see if you are eligible. It is very easy to do. then it will advise you then and there whether or not you may be entitled to it.0
