Barcelona is a beautiful place:T
Ive been 3 times and had a wonderful time. So much to see and do.
Whenever ive been ive always used a shoe lace on my bag- TOP TIP!!
Thread the shoe lace on the end of the zip ( though the hole on the zip) then wrap it around the handle of the bag. It can take a few seconds to untie and retie after however it is a great way of keeping your valubles safe.
When we went last- a group of us we gave everyone i shoe lace and told them what to do........ no one really used it then one of the group ended up getting there purse stolen out there bag ( then after then everyone started using a shoe lace on there bag)
I'd defo go back and recommend barcelona its a shame people like this are giving it a bad name ( Romanians i think most are?)however like any city just use you common sense and stay in tourist areas & watch your bag.New York ♥..........These street will make you feel brand new, Big lights will inspire you.

We love La Boqueria market and always make sure we have a good look round the stalls. We have a favourite tapas bar there where we finish off with a lovely lunch and a couple of canas.:)0 -
Well, I'm just finishing off my MA in Translation and Interpreting in Barcelona atm, and I agree with many of the other posters in that it is a great place to be, although as with any big city, you need to have your wits about you on the metro or in areas where tourist agglomerate (for example, Plaça Catalunya or las Ramblas, just to name two), and it's certainly true what they say - the city never sleeps!0

I've got to agree with most posters, not had any problems in either Madrid or Barcelona, and had an amazing time in both cities. The only place I've ever been pickpocketed in is London.0

This is the main reason I'll never go back (plus it smells, the beach is scabby and there's nothing to do...). If you stand still for long enough, someone will pinch your shoes...
Another person here who can't believe you said this! Never bothered with the beach, cos it's a city destination to me,perhaps if you thought it was just a beach destination that's where you went wrong.
I have been twice and I plan to go back next time for not less than 5 days as there is SO much to do,stunning architecture, the gaudi buildings, gaudi park ..get a guide book!!0 -
We are staying at the Barcelonette to make the most of the beach and city0

What planet are some people on. Sagrada Familia has been under construction since 1882. How inconsiderate of them not to finish it especially for you, or at least to have shifted the cranes so your pictures would turn out nice!:rotfl:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
