What's the deal?

June is being promoted as Vaccination Month (supported by vet care charity, the PDSA). If you've never had your cat or dog vaccinated or the last time they were was over 18 months ago (and they're over 18 months old) then download a voucher to get up to £30 off the cost.

How do I get it?

Print out the voucher on the Vaccination Month website to get around £30 off the cost of your vaccinations, plus a health check (prices vary regionally).

It's not just cats and dogs

The offer also applies to rabbits if they've not been vaccinated in the last 9 months (and are over 9 months old) and horses if they've not had their usual booster or been vaccinated within the last 3 months (and are over 12 months old). Fill in the form to download the voucher and it'll tell you which vets are participating. Sadly the scheme isn't operating in Northern Ireland.

When does it need to be done?

The initial vaccine must be taken in June but for cats, dogs and horses needing a course of treatment, as long as the course finishes in July it's fine. In the case of rabbits you'll need a second visit six months after the first, which is also free.

Many thanks to MoneySaver captainbeaker for the top spot. We've added this additional info into the top of the discussion to provide a fully researched explanation.

Ermmm... I think you'll find it is for cats/dogs. Click the first link (the one that says Cats/Dogs/Rabbits) and fill in the form.

Thanks for this. Just a quick question if anyone knows- what do you do if your regular vet isn't participating? All my pet's records are held with a vet down my road who's not participating but there are others nearby that are. Can I just go to a new vet and tell my regular one to update that he's been vaccinated?

Your vet won't just update it, they need the labels of the bottles to be added to the vaccination record. Do you have your pet(s) vaccination record(s) or does your vet keep hold of them?

If your vets hold them, I would request for you to have them as if you needed them in an emergency etc.

Check with the vets that do take part in the offer if they would accept your dog(s)/cat(s) under the scheme. They might not if they think you will never go there again.

What a shame it has to 18 months since last vacination as mine has only been 14 months. Going away later in year and weill need her to be up up to date. She doesn't go outside so only needs vacinations for cattery whem we away.

For rabbits you need to pay for a myxomatosis vaccination in June and then you get the free one in December!

Thanks for posting this, I have been meaning to get our cat vaccinated since his previous owner 'didn't believe in vaccinations' but I've never had enough money. This will spur me to do it now, have made an appointment. He will probably hate me for it, I had him neutered to as he was spraying everywhere and he is the best cat now.
